Ethics in Graphic Design

Ethics are a part of any field of work. No matter in what area you work or for what company you work for the way you carry yourself and the way you do your work are relevant. When it comes to design you need to be conscious of the images you use and alter. Every picture needs to be labeled for re-use or you and your work are ultimately liable. There is also integrity with artwork. The field of design has a lot to do with art and if you, even by accident, happen to use someone else’s art work, something that they may have spent years on, you can be sued or charged by the artist. It is also unethical to sell any sort of art that was taken by another and pass it off as your own work. In this case you and the company you may work for may come under fire, which now jeopardizes your livelihood. It also makes more sense to keep your integrity. If you are known as an artist who understands the ethics in graphic design, you are more inclined to build your client list or business faster. People usually like to work with someone they know they can trust.
